Disintegration of US Democrats' Gun Control Push 'Pretty Much Complete'
The Obama campaign Web site's "In the News" section, which chronicles Barack Obama's recent statements on the 36th anniversary of the passage of Title IX and the Juneteenth holiday celebration, does not include his reaction to the United States Supreme Court decision last week to strike down the District of Columbia's ban on handguns. I lean towards the liberal side on most issues, and I think your average Democratic voter is an all-around better person than the average Republican voter, but, I just don't get gun control. It's completely illogical and unAmerican, as is reverse discrimination (Affirmative Action), and a few other liberal causes.
It's like the two sides are willing to completely defy reason, logic, and integrity to make sure they're doing exactly the opposite of the other. I've only been of age to be politically active for four years, and I'm already tired of having no true representation. It's demoralizing. What happened to the idea that the government serves the people. We've become subjects, not citizens. I don't think it's idealistic to believe in a society where you're free to do whatever you want, unless it infringes upon someone else's rights... a society where the government strives to better itself and assist it's constituents. I love the people of my country, and the ideals that our government was FOUNDED upon, but we're far, far removed from those ideals... and it's hard to be proud.
