DC Prepares Licensing, Registration: 'Strictest Handgun Laws Allowed'

Thirty-two years after enacting the nation's toughest restrictions on firearms ownership, the D.C. government suddenly faces a new reality, forced by the U.S. Supreme Court to draft regulations that will permit city residents to keep weapons, including handguns, readily available in their homes. "I am disappointed in the court's ruling and believe that more handguns in the District of Columbia... [Washington Post, via gunpolicy.org ]

If you read that article it's clear that the DC government could not care any less about what the SCOTUS ruled they are still going to have in effect a TOTAL ban and I will bet that in order to receive a permit that you will have to under go an evaluation that could take years. They also state that NO semi-auto guns will be allowed. What part of common use firearms do they not understand. Oh wait they do understand they just don't care... I would say it's time for the DC subjects to rise up, but they just don't care either for the most part. They still have in office a man who was caught in a hotel room with a hooker and smoking crack. He also has so many IRS problems how he is not in jail is beyond me. I really would like to see that city do the way of Gomorrah...

They're just bitter. They cling to their gun control religion.

they will allow handguns, but their registration criteria make drag it on for so long, it would just discourage people.

There are no gun shops in DC... they could control gun ownership through zoning laws.

It should prove interesting...

The more I think about it the more I believe that a gun ban in DC should continue. Wait... Wait.... Wait just a minute and hear me out. It's clear that the subjects of DC are too friggin stupid to own guns and need to be treated like grade school children. I mean look at who they KEEP electing year after year!! They continue to make incredibly STUPID decisions at the polls so they SHOULD have to live with the consequences. The DC gun ban experiment has been proven a failure yet they keep putting in power those that wish to keep them down. Some are meant to be sheep and DC is ripe with them. Some are meant to be wolves and DC is also ripe with them as well. Some are meant to be sheepdogs, sadly there are very few in that wasteland. Some flocks are just not worth saving....

I like your spirit.

But what it boils down to for me at least....
Is that we are ALL Americans... They(DC) just happen to be stupid.

I know you're right they just really piss me off. They keep electing those people that want to take away all of OUR rights. Chicago, San Fancisco, (Cali as a whole or hole) New York etc.... What are those subjects thinking.

The ruling did much more to protect the rights of people who already can own handguns than it will to allow DC residents to own handguns.
