Maybe if they blamed just that gun, it'd be fine. But the problem is that regardless of whether they believe the object or the person is responsible, they blame ALL SIMILAR OBJECTS and ALL SIMILAR PEOPLE!

They don't know how to contain judgment to the responsible parties. They must punish everyone for the crimes of another. This is why disarmers have the moral low ground. They continue to accuse manufacturers, other gun owners, and all guns collectively -- all elements unrelated to the specific cases of tragedy that motivate them.

Up at the top it says "Mike Seate" and under that "Columnist".

Funny because I read it at first as "Communist"

Seate is a hack. I was having a discussion with a coworker a few days ago about how Seate reuses material from one column for others a month or two later (case in point, he wrote about the same thing at the end of April - Guns on campus invitation for sorrow - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review), contradicts himself within columns, and has a generally poor grasp of the written word.

I've seen better writing in high school.

Writing to the other isn't the way to go, IMO. He probably doesn't give a rats ass when anyone with a different opinion thinks. He'll be damned if anyone tells him his views are skewed and distasteful.

Instead, you should write to the editor of the paper. If enough people complain about the complete and utter crap that he wrote on that page, then something can happen. He talks about keeping guns out of our hands, I personally think he shouldn't be allowed to have a pen in his.

I'm all for a good argument on gun control laws, but this is just downright childish. I'm hoping that he was being entirely sarcastic, as I just can't comprehend the amount of bias and prejudice in that short article.

"Mr [Seate], what you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

ROFL...I though it was fitting.

I reworked what I wrote and added a few things and sent it to the editor.
