New York Mayor Claims Victory as Georgia Gun Dealer Pulls Out of Trial

Saying he could not afford what he feared would be an unfair trial, a Georgia gun dealer accused by New York City of illegally selling handguns that made their way to New York backed out of his federal trial on Monday, the day it was set to begin. The city will now negotiate with the dealer, Jay Wallace, to allow a "special master" to oversee gun sales at his store, potentially joining 20... [New York Times, via gunpolicy.org ]

Remember when the cops in the L.A. Riots were tried on federal charges perhaps relating to violating civil rights? Something like that, I think.

Well, when the Supreme Court's ruling on the D.C. Gun Case later this month strikes down (hopefully) several gun control laws, I wonder if that could be the foundation for similar charges against some of New York City's political establishment.

Personally, I would like to see NYC's infamous "Gun Court" turned into sort of a museum, not unlike the Holocaust museums sprinkled around the nation. They could have guided tours and exhibts (i.e, "This is where an elderly jewelry store owner was denied his right to keep and bear arms and unjustly given a one-year sentence for exercising his freedom.")

Probably wouldn't happen, but would be fair and just. Anyway, there needs to be some political payback over this, I'm thinking.
