How Many Americans Must Die Before Gun Lobby Gets Message?

The wounds deepen. The city reels from the murder of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, and in the midst of it, there are more blows to our sensibilities: There's the sickening eruption of what looked like gratuitous violence when police arrested three men driving away from the scene of another shooting -- beating them and kicking them unmercifully, over and over, in a tableau of unchecked... We don't need tougher laws, we need tougher consequences.

Boy, that's not an editorial piece designed for pure emotion!

Quote:
There's the sickening eruption of what looked like gratuitous violence when police arrested three men driving away from the scene of another shooting - beating them and kicking them unmercifully, over and over, in a tableau of unchecked rage.
I have no idea what that has to do with more "sane gun laws", sounds more like the police need to go to anger management classes. ??

Quote:
There's the petty insensitivity of Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers, who balked at the mayor's order lowering flags to half-staff, arguing that only the governor or president can order flags lowered - as if protocol mattered at this point.
Again, "sane gun laws" would change this, how? And I believe he's right, only the Gov and POTUS can order flags at half-mast.

Quote:
And still the struggle remains for sane gun restrictions to compensate for the kind of beast among us we don't know how to contain, the vicious predators who speak with bullets and kill with ease.
There oughta be a law against killing people!

Quote:
Yesterday, while this city reels from this latest blow, for instance, our legislators in Harrisburg - who've refused to pass any substantive gun restrictions - were courageously poised to protect us from the terrible threat of gay marriage..
That's kinda funny right there, only it should be "Yesterday, while this city reels from this latest blow, for instance, our legislators in Harrisburg - who've refused to pass any substantive crime bills- were courageously poised to protect us from the terrible threat of gay marriage..."

The writer sure loves using dramatic words in her articles. To paraphrase Monty Pyton " I fart in her general direction"

the anti-gun left is all about emotion and appearance. they aren't interested in lowering crime. they want to always feel good with their actions. and since 1/2 of Americans are total saps, they will buy into this.

America used to be a nation that embraced guns, now, thanks to the left, it's a nation that is afraid of them.

Here's the letter I sent to her. I doubt it will be published and I'm sure it'll be dismissed.

I know that I shouldn't be surprised by your article and am not really sure it's worth responding. Since I've got nothing better to do at this moment, I will. I was like you. Full of emotional vigor flailing my arms about like an insane person hoping someone would listen. My question to you is how many feel good laws do we need to pass before we figure out gun control is an absolute failure. It's the giant drunk elephant in a living room of Democrats talking about education but refusing to actually read anything that doesn't agree with their inflated sense of righteousness. Most liberal ideas I can get behind. Sometimes people do need help. Yes, our kids do need education and our middle class need jobs. However, we don't need more gun laws. Believe me when I write I used to tell people, "You're so delusional if you think the answer to gun violence is more guns." Numbers don't lie and I'm the one who was delusional. More gun education and guns in the hands of honest, educated citizens is the answer to gun violence. Do you honestly think stricter gun laws would keep police or citizens from being killed? Why don't you look at Chicago or Washington D.C. Has their crime rate changed for the better or worse after their gun laws were enacted? I know it seems counter intuitive but gun laws do nothing. The same way rape laws don't stop rapists. Do yourself a favor and do the liberal thing: educate yourself.
