Texas Shooting Suspect Used Controversial 5.7mm 'Cop-killer' Pistol
The massacre at Fort Hood that left 13 dead and 30 injured was a "kick in the gut," Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. said Friday, as military officials tried to piece together what led an Army psychiatrist to open fire on his fellow soldiers. The Army wouldn't discuss a motive, but initial reports suggested that the suspect, 39-year-old Nidal Malik Hasan, was dreading his imminent... [Fox News / AP, via gunpolicy.org ]

I really have to wonder where in the H3LL that headline came from. The 5.7 x 28mm pistol caliber barely exceeds the ballistics of the 22 Magnum rimfire. It's also incapable of penetrating level IIA or higher body armor, so it aint no "cop killer". Fact is it's a bit of a pea shooter.

1. The plus side of the FN FiveSeven is a 4 year old girl can shoot the gun accurately to 100 yards because of the very low recoil. 2. Since the bullet is supersonic it will practically shoot out to 100+ yards in a straight line. The bad side is the gun is hard to come by because of the shortage. Why is the CIA, Secret Service and FBI purchasing the FN FiveSeven? What are they using it for and why are they not talking about it? There is something very special about the FN FiveSeven and I have not figured it out yet. I am glad I purchased mine when the price was $800 each. I keep one at home and the rest of them are in a Bank Safety Deposit box. P.S. Just make sure you purchase the blue tip bullets because the hollow points are not that accurate. They have an awful climb rate. To shoot a hollow point at 50 yards you basically have to point the gun about 30 degrees in the downward direction just to hit the target. |
