Some dude bringing guns illegaly into campuses and blowing away unarmed, innocent people while the guys with guns stand around outside is a bigger nightmare, IMO.

Why are people more afraid of law-abiding citizens carrying than psychotic criminals?

I'm all for CC on campus. One requirement: 100% sobriety.

They would be most likely to concur with Garrett Evans, who was shot in both legs by Seung Hui Cho at Virginia Tech. "Having guns in the classroom," he told USA Today, "only makes things worse."
Let's not try to find out the hard way.

BTW Seung explicitly mentioned in his diary that VT was "gun free zone"

Actually this should not even be a problem. Most schools are "dry" anyway so there is no alcohol, oh... wait...

The reason is that people are fickle.
Depending on when you talk to them and the subject of the conversation colleges can either be places of learning where the students are the most educated and adult people of their age group, or they can be a party house filled with drunken lunatics.
The second characterization is the one that is caught up during debates on guns on campus and the first characterization is the one brought up during fund drives and advertising campaigns.

Colorado State allows concealed carry by students. If you do some research you will find that the state of Indiana does allow concealed carry on campus. They leave it up to the learning institution as to if it is allowed or not as does Alaska,Idaho,KS,KY,Minn,Miss,Mont,Org,Penn,SD,Virg ina,Wash and WV. Utaha allows concealed carry on all colleges/ universities. ILL and Wisconsin are the only two states with no type of provisions for concealed carry.
