You know what helped me? I started to shoot first. I would get so nervous my legs would shake. I started to ask to shoot first to get it over with. It helped. Also being around people I know helped as well.

Well I registered for my first USPSA class and I feel like I'm going to puke. I already know my skills are poor but that was kinda the point of signing up. I'll give an update after tomorrow.

Comps and red dots are not allowed in any division of IDPA.
The IDPA Rulebook can be found here.

FYI, If you are shooting SS (8 round mag) in USPSA or CDP IDPA and running a Techwell SP magwell Techwear USA | Product Details these base plates will help with reloads
Extended 8rd Power Mag Base Pad They also fit the USPSA/IDPA box. I was having some problems with seating my 8 round mags running the SP magwell and those base plates fixed the problem.

Great post! I am going to take the NRA basics of pistol shooting course next weekend and then go to a IDPA event the week after.

I really hope to get into this. I have already found a local IDPA club, and there is annother club I'm going to join where they have defencive shoots basically in the style of IDPA, but more of an open style. I may need to take this year to become familiar with the gun before taking the plunge, but then again if I wait I'll never do it.

Your sticky on the IDPA and IPSC really helped me out. I did have a question. I have a XD 9mm. I would have to shoot in ESP divison right? What all can I have modded on my XD to shot in both IDPA and IPSC with it? As I think I just can't have porting and milled slide right? Everything else is ok? Thanks for all the help!
