Got my first DQ
Been competing about a 1-1.5 years and I know the saying of the 2 kinds of shooters those who have been DQed and those who will be. It still really hit me hard in the pride. I broke the 180 crawling under a beam on the first stage. The RO told me I could shoot the rest of the stages for practice if I wanted and I told him I didnt want anyone to say he gave me favoritism. So I just loaded up my gun and belt and painted steel the rest of the day. Funny enough I also helped RO after that because Texas summers are hard on ROs.

Good onya for helping after the DQ!
Crawling -- seriously, how often do you practice it? I never have, so I'd probably screw up, too....

Yeah I held the gun in my strong hand and brought my strong arm across my body which caused it to pass the 180. I had been placing consistently higher each match so i needed a wake up call.

Sucks but it happens now throw it under the rug and move on. Mine was a hammer follow which resulted in a AD after shooting for 3 years. Sucked but moved on.

Last time I did IDPA a group of off duty SWAT guys came in full gear and competed in their own class. They were better than most but they got to compete with their mags loaded at 15 with lasers and lights on their guns. Anyways one of them on the final stage also did a 180 and flagged everyone in the room. It shouldnt ever happen but shows that even the best can make a mistake. Don't do it again and move on.

That's rough man, way to be a good sport though. I'll have to practice crawling with snap caps now haha. I love IDPA, it has a way of giving you your "firsts". First time shooting pistol prone, shooting off hand, behind cover, through a tunnel, out of a car, the list goes on and on.

My last match had an indoor stage where you had to move back to cover. I slipped on my spent cases and went down. Kept the muzzle in the right direction, but lost the grip as soon as I hit the concrete. My tailbone hurt for 3 days, but my pride still hasn't healed.
