Blackhawk Serpa for IDPA
I am planning to shoot my first IDPA match this weekend.
I will be running my Springfield XD9 and plan on using a Blackhawk Serpa holster.
Is the Serpa approved for IDPA?
Can I use it with the paddle mount config OR must I use it with the belt loops?

1) Call the club sponsoring the match -- many ban the serpa now, given all the accidents.
Assuming they're ok with you running a serpa, you can run it in either config, as long as the belt loops don't cause the holster to stand off from your waist too far (the IDPA rule book has all the gory details)

The SERPA is 100% approved.
You can call HQ if you want, but it is definitely approved.
Paddle or loops is fine.

using a SERPA? make sure you cut off the latch to disable the lock. which is valid according to IDPA rules.
take that risk out of the equation so you can enjoy the game safely.

Currently IDPA legal yes, but some clubs & training facilities are banning them. No point in the lock anyway IMO. Unless you open carry, you don't need such a retention device on a holster.

I've also seen many use the holster included with the XDm for matches. Blackhawk also makes a non-retention holster for XDms that would work well. Clubs are not banning Blackhawk holsters, just the Serpa retention holster.

I shot my first IDPA match this past weekend. Running Springfield XD9 (service) and the Blackhawk Serpa. No one even gave the holster a second look.
I had a great time. I definitely plan to do this again.
I placed (overall) #86 out of 120 and #9 out of 13 in my division (ESP-Unclassified)
