Is Glow on the poor man's Trijicon HDs?

I am looking to update my stock sights on my XD9. I was thinking Trijicon HD's with Orange front ring for better sight acquisition in daytime. . .like for shooting IDPA.

Also, the tritium for night time shooting.

Don't quite have the $$ for the update now, but was thinking about trying the Glow On (orange).

Would I get similar results by painting my front site only with the orange?

Let me know your thoughts.

I can easily spend the $10 to try it.

i put the bright sights panit and ghost glow stuff on my xd40sc and it isnt worth the bottle it came in.

I like the Glow-On! Its not bad at all and for me yes it is my poor mans night sights! It will diffidently hold me over until i get the funds up to send my slide to James! Just a quick charge with a led light and you get a bright glow for hours to come. As the time passes the brightness slowly decreases. I have only used the org. green Glow-On so not sure how the orange does!

here is a shot of orange glow on I just applied to my mosin nagant.

if you hit it with a light similar to sunlight and go into a dim area it will glow like the front sight is cherry hot (in welding terms) for about 2 or 3 minutes. after that the orange is there and does help me find the front sight.

I tried it on the .40 but it wasn't what I wanted so I took it off and used the green. for myself and my intended uses, the orange is better on the rifles. it would seem your intended use the orange would probably work.
