Technically no. The XD is more like a single action pistol, since pulling the trigger serves only one purpose, to release the striker.

EDIT: Woah, your avatar is freaky dude! Welcome to the forum.

It would technically be a SA trigger, as stated above. I'm sure Springfield could have made it MUCH lighter and shorter, but since it's a combat gun you get the DA-like trigger.

I have heard it as Striker Fired.

Technically, the XD is single action as posted above, but I have heard it more accurately called "striker fired." Seeing as it doesn't have a hammer.

It is a SA pistol. The Smith & Wesson M&P is also a striker fired pistol and it is a Double Action weapon.

Glocks are also striker fired but are DA/SA. They can be fired without racking the slide if I am not mistaken.

I have never seen a Glock do that. I have always had to rack the slide to get a Glock to go bang. Their triggers are also SA-ish. I have, however, seen the Walther P99 do that since they are a DA/SA with a de-cocker, that is only after you rack it to chamber a round though then hit the de-cocker to put it in DA.

I am probably mistaken then. I have only fired a couple of Glocks and I could have sworn they were both DA/SA. I am certain my buddies Taurus Millenium is DA/SA and maybe that is my confusion.

glocks are da, technically they could be fired without racking the slide but it is imossible to get the round in the chamber without racking the slide. therefore when you rack the slide to load the weapon it makes no difference.

"While the Glock pistol might more accurately be described as "single-and-a-half-action only," the Glock pistol was one of the first to use the DAO-style action with an internal striker rather than an exposed hammer. In operation, the Glock striker is half-cocked when the slide is racked, allowing the shooter to take advantage of a lighter but still uniform trigger pull. the Glock's trigger pull is approximately 5 to 8 pounds, as opposed to most DAO pistols with a 10- to 12-pound trigger pull."

a glock cocks the stricker and drops it every single time it is shot.
