Need smaller 9mm + mag options for XD9SC

This is a discussion on Need smaller 9mm + mag options for XD9SC within the General SA-XD/XD(M) Talk forums, part of the XD Talk category; I'm curious about what mag options are available for the XD9SC. I've seen the 10rd factory and 16 rd extention mags. I've also heard that ...

Need smaller 9mm + mag options for XD9SC

I'm curious about what mag options are available for the XD9SC. I've seen the 10rd factory and 16 rd extention mags. I've also heard that 40 mags work but am not sure about reliability.

Need a slightly larger companion to my keltec pf9. Something that can hold 10+ rounds but is smaller than a service XD45 which I also have.

Looked so far at:

P11 - poor trigger, no grip safety, + smallest

G26 - felt like a brick, no grip safety

G19 - no grip safety + like it better than G26

am trying to avoid any gun that has a switch safety or integrated lock (ie Bersa,Taurus).

There are plenty of happy SC9 owners out there and it's pretty easy to carry a 16rd w/sleeve as a spare. It's a little chunky, but built like a tank.

An SC40 mag holding 13rds of 9mm is doable, but I personally DNK if I'd want to use it as a primary SD setup.

I am.

Almost 800 rounds through my XD9sc this weekend 13 at a time from XD40sc 9 round mags. I did modify the lips slightly so I cannot attest to the reliability of an-tweaked mag.
This is my concealed carry gun. I entrust my life to it.

Try looking at the Smith & Wesson M&P compacts. Its about the same size as a glock 26. But the grip is MUCH more comfortable. Capacity is 12 rounds on the 9mm. It sounds like it would work for what you want, it's worth looking into.

Love my sc xd 9mm. Easy to conceal and trust it more than a kel tec thats for sure. I carry a 10rd in and a 16 as a back up but you can carry how you want. That just works better for me. Good luck with you choice.

+1

I was considering a Kel Tec PF9 for concealed carry but after shooting several mags through one this weekend I love the XD9sc all the more. I may still consider the PF9 for a backup piece but I'd want a better gun if I was only carrying one.

I'm considering getting a Kahr PM9. I have a XD9sc and I plan to use that for CCW, but it is kinda bulky and heavy (I know it's much smaller than many other CCWd firearms out there).

My primary carry is a PF-9. I guess they can be hit or miss as some Keltecs, but mine has been flawless. Very light and easily concealable. 8 rounds isn't bad.

I would suggest a Kahr as well. They are well made, but can be pricey.

Good to know, thanks.

From what I hear KelTec have excellent customer service - a local LEO shot one so much it wore out and KelTec simply pulled one from the production line, stamped his serial# on it and destroyed the old gun - at least that's what he figured since he got his gun back but it was brand new. Can't argue with that kind of service!

Yep, Kahr do make some nice weapons. . . but they sure ain't cheap. However, in 10 years time when it's still shooting beautifully and you still trust it with your life the money spent won't seem so important.

+1 for the Kahrs. I have 2- a P9, and a PM9. Both are extremely accurate. But with factory mags, you will be limited to 8 rounds.
