1. It's hard to get an idea of what your going to get. How much of a reduction, etc. 2. It's expensive, for that uncertainty. 3. You have to send ship your gun off for some period of time, which adds more cost + no XD on hand

It's been my experience that all the great work was done by small, talented, dedicated gunsmiths. I look at it kind of like this - if I wanted a Corvette tricked out, the last place I would send it is back to the dealer.

+1

That's why mine is at Springer right now. If I remember correctly, he warrants his work as well. I'm just trading SA's warranty for SP's.

If someone wants to simply remove pre-travel, can he install the PRP safety lever only?

Yes, you don't have to install the overtravel stop if you don't want to.

And, btw, it won't remove pretravel, it'll just reduce it. Refer to the pics I posted earlier in this thread to see what I mean.

Reduce is fine for me. But how about reliability of the PRP kit?

so will springer warranty the WHOLE gun or just the work he did?

i like the idea of the River Kit but i looked at the install and it looks like the "cheap" way out. it takes a short cut to accomplish something by putting a piece to block the trigger bar (which u have to sand just right) instead of getting a new trigger bar. also it doesnt come with a sear or trigger spring. im sure its good and gets the job done, but i come from the import car world and the kit seems like a dc sports or ACR, good but not the best power or quality.

now im with the comparison to modding cars with the smaller companies. that is the case MOST of the time. although if ur manufacture has an aftermarket company i.e. nismo, where they may not offer the most power and may be the most expensive, they are usually good.

presicion is deffenitly the way i would go, but i would want a warranty on the whole thing (kinda like what DININ does for BMW, one mod and they carry your 4/50k warranty)

I have no idea how to answer that in a way that is anything other than my own personal experience.

I've done a complete takedown of my pistol since installing the PRP kit probably, oh, 5 times since installing it (I tend to REALLY clean my gun). I look at the safety lever from the PRP kit and there's no wear on it that I can discern.

I've haven't read here anyone who described a reliability issue with the kit, but I haven't read every post here, either.

I have never had a problem with my PRP kit and I have never heard of anyone having one.

No, I can't imagine why Springer would want to warranty the entire gun. (If he does, that's great, but I think an aftermarket modder like DININ is the exception, not the rule.) If you modify your gun in any way, SA warrants the rest of it. Everything that's stock. Your entire warranty isn't forfeited just because you had some trigger work done.

I'll let Scott weigh in, since I don't want to speak for him, but I haven't heard of ANY gunsmith that would warrant the entire gun.
