The triggers on an out-of-the-box M&P aren't great, I'll agree...but they improve more drastically with firing than XDs IMO, and they have real potential to be great with a little (easy) work.

I don't know. I've got both and liked my XD's trigger much better after 1,000 rounds. Not to mention the shape of the trigger on the M&P feels weird, IMO.

my father had an M&P .40 for about 6 months, but everybody shot my XD better than the M&P -- everyone who tried them.

he ended up selling it for an XD tactical.

I would go with the XD. I can't stand the trigger on the M&Ps that I have tried.
