C.A.R. shooting technique

Not sure if anyone else here has learned or seen this technique but figured I can share. I learned this style awhile back and it is a great technique with the XDs.

From what I saw in the video clips, its basically pistol tight into the body and multi double taps and triple taps in rapid sucession to multiple targets at close range. Is that right? Can you give us a run-down on what you have learned from it?

It's interesting and a bit different. Shooter definitely needs to have more than one magazine available at an instance.

It allows you to switch between very close combat and ranged naturally. If you notice when the pistol is brought up to eye level, it's not extended but very close to your face so you are able to pivot and engage targets quicker than the traditional extended postions. The big thing is though is that your firearm is always ready to engage a threat even when at the ready and you have less problems of having a weapon wrestled from you should it become hands on. Think like a pendulum. The further out the weight is, the slower it takes to swing it around. With the weight close to you, you are able to spin quicker.
Also the pistol is taught to be used as a battering device should it malfunction or you run out of ammo at close range. You can see him use that in one of the videos where he purposely jams the weapon, punches it into the face of the target then retreats to reload.
I really like the shotgun techniques since that was my primary weapon when doing entry work and when inside a structure this system keeps the shotgun close to the body and controllable in tight spots.

It can be done with any pistol including revolvers. It's not about how many he pumps out, it's about the stance and the hold. What he demonstrates in the videos is the ready postion and how you can fire directly from the ready should you be rushed.
When I practice, I usually will shoot two from the ready position then bring it up to shoot the third into the head instead of emptying out my mag. (unless I have the extra cash for a few extra boxes of WWB)

I second that. The guy is not a "pimp with the shotty," he's a guy who spends entirely too much of his time at the range. There is so much more to life than guns, as much "entertainment" as they can and do provide. Blasting holes in cardboard while looking cool means nothing to me.
