And as an ex-owner of an XDm, the trigger is, far, far from an improvement.
thats why i mentioned small improvement, I too am a ex-XDm owner as wel, mostly sold it because I am better with my .45 than I was with the .40 XDm, but with a 9mm looming in my future, The 3.8 might get the business, as for the trigger, thats what Springer and PRP are for!
Basically, they're releasing a XD Service model with .2" less barrel, somewhat higher capacity (which, if their engineers had done their sums correctly in the first place, could have been released on the original model), and a funky grip.
What is there to get excited about?
To those of us who prefer the XDM over the XD (just too blocky IMO, which is why I don't own a Glock) this is a nice release. Although I, along with many other would have rather had a .45 XDM. If I somehow end up with the spare change to get one of these, I may just pick one up.
To me the XDM just feels better to my hand, and I'm glad Springfield is recognizing that the XDM was a success and is building upon that line of pistols.
