THE roll pin solution????

Has anyone tried these (filed down to 16mm length)?

McMaster-Carr

91612A226Metric Plain Steel Coiled Spring Pin M3 Diameter, 18 mm LengthIn stock at $5.90 per PackThis product is sold in Packs of 25

The COILED pin would be much stronger, and preclude use for snap caps, and probably be easier to remove when you needed to do so. The trouble with a single roll pin is that it is weak, and because of the base of the slide, is hard to drive out. I have thought of inserting a SMALLER single roll pin like CZ and SIG do, but when you go to drive it out, the outer pin may get stuck.

Interesting. I wonder if a guy could cut it with a Dremel type tool and a cutting disc? Then file it smooth to finish it off.

I'd like to see some replies to this thread as well. I'm not biggest fan of roll pins. It seems so yestertech to me.

My bet is...

this will not generate much on this site. This site has a DESPERATE need of a home gunsmith section. The general site has all the "what about XD" and "gotta new gun" stuff. The problem with the popularity of the XD, is that this site doesn't "go deep" and allow folks to really get a problem solved - not without tens of threads. There are just too many people, and SO MANY newbies.

I see the point of using something stronger but I'm then would the striker take more of a beating, thus shortening the striker's life?

Double Roll pins...

ARE stronger - these would also HAVE to be stronger than regular single roll pins.
