Loading to capacity.....yes I searched
I havnt fired my new gun yet but Im having some serious problems getting the mag to load to capacity! I know they are new and stiff but I can hardley get 9 in. BTW I have the service xd40 with the xd gear and hi cap mags. I cant figure out how the mag loader makes things any easier. Maybe Im not using it right. Please enlighten me.

Yeah that'll happen. They are new and they will be stiff. Load'em up and unload'em. Over and over again till they smooth out a bit. The loader does help.

And you don't have to load to full capactiy... just 3/4 or 80% full and then unload. The spring in the magz will weaken.

Could someone try and describe to me how the mag loader works? Ive tried to use it but the rounds wont go in when I compress the guide because of the way the loader is shaped. I dont really know how to explain it better than that.

Here's how I do it:
Hold the magazine in your left hand (assuming you're right handed) and put it into the mag loader so the numbers / holes on the magazine are facing away from you. The mag loader should have the divit facing away (the side with "9mm 40sw 45 GAP 357 SIG" will also be facing left)
Now try making a L with your left hand (index finger pointed straight up, thumb pointed straight to the right, kinda like when you played cowboys and indians as a kid, and made a gun with your hand).
Put the mag with mag loader on top into the base of the L. Wrap your thumb around the base to hold it in place, and rest your index finger inside the divot on the mag loader.
Push down with either your index finger, or on the top of the mag loader. Hold the mag loader in place (pushed down) with your left index finger. Now slip the ammo into the magazine (it'll only go about half way), and lift up on the magazine loader. When the magazine laoder is up high enough it clears the magazine, push the round all the way into the magazine.
Now repeat.
Hope that helps / makes sense.
A lot of people have purchased the HKS speed loader ( http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=48HSA) or the UPLULA ( http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=10MAG). I use the HKS speed loader and prefer it over the one that came with my XD. I haven't used the UPLULA yet, but I've heard wonderful things about it.
If the springs are tight on your magazines, one suggestion I've seen is to insert a ruler (I guess a butter knife would work too) into the magazine and run the spring up and down a few times.

Whenever I imagine hell, it always looks like Austin, Texas. I just can't stand to be around people who refuse to be based in any form of a logical reality. Moscow on the Brazos is a good description. I will admit, it was cool, in the 70s, before half a million people desperately trying to be hip moved there, built giant, urban sprawling neighborhoods, and bought "keep Austin weird" t-shirts.

Thanks Adam! Im at my girls house now and the xd is at home but I will try this tomorrow. Im only allowed to keep one piece here and thats my AMT back-up 45. I dont care what anyone says, for a close range home invasion type situation that little thing will straight up get the job done. Its just not as graceful as the xd.
Im excited I found this forum.

As a new XD owner, but not a new shooter, I highly recommend the UpLula loader. You literally can load a round a second...and your thumb/hand isnt tired or sore at all. Broken in or not, it really makes quick work of loading the mags.
Its cheap too..I think I paid $20 for mine at the gun shop where I bought my XD. I took out the XD gear loader, and cut the foam a bit, and stuck the UpLula right in the case in its spot.
It works so well, that If I dont count the rounds, Ill end up stuffing 17 rounds into my 16 round mag...

I agree these are worth the money and they will work on any caliber, single or double stack.
