Don't be embarrassed...who owns a hi-point?
Okay, I was just looking at gunbroker and saw a few hi-points for sale. I got to thinking, there are enough gun lovers here that a few of us must own these. So, fess up. Who owns a hi-point, which model, and do you like it?
I don't own one yet, but am considering buying one of the 9mm carbines they have for sale for under 200 bucks.

I almost bought one. I had limited funds was at a gun shop and they were selling the .45ACP version for $145. I thought damn that was a good deal. Then I held it and I thought for a moment it was made by black and decker or DeWalt.
I think it'd probably be ok for a truck gun or boat or cheap enough to have one stashed in each room in the house for a just in case scanario but I can't imagine ever concealing it since they're HUGE.
I can't speak to their reliability since I've never owned one...but did come close.

Had a Hi-Point 9mm Carbine. It was fun to shoot and suprisingly accurate. I did end up getting rid of it because I just wasn't shooting it much and since I belong to an indoor range I rather just used my handguns. Probably put about 500-700 rounds through it without a problem though.
But, as I'm sure many will agree...IT WAS A BITCH TO CLEAN.

I've got one of the carbines in 9mm. It's cheap. No other way to really describe it. The stock is hollow plastic, held together with nuts and bolts. Pain in the a$$ to clean(I normally just hit it with break free and a bore snake). For It's price it's very accurate. I wouldn't want it as a primary home defense weapon , but if you are on a very limited budget, it's a whole lot better than nothing. In 9mm, it's a cheap firearm, ammo is fairly cheap, and it's a fun plinker. I'll post pics a soon as I can.......Good luck with whatever you choose

I've owned 2 carbines and they both were 100% reliable with every ammo I could toss in them including +P+. They were also extremely accurate. Take down was a pain but then again. they never really needed to be taken down.
Now that there are aftermarket 15rd mags and boresnakes I am looking for a couple more to replace those. One goes in the trunk of the car mounted on the lid and other goes to the range. Would I rely on one in a life and death situation? You bet your ass I would, and it would do a damn fine job too.

Anyone own a .380? How big (or small) is it? Concealable?

same size as the 9mm compact. They are not light. The slides are massive (which helps with accuracy and their ability to shoot even the +P stuff)
If you are looking for something inexpensive for concealed carry, you would be better off looking for a Kel Tec P11.
