Sight adjustment
I have an XD9 subcompact. I love the gun and have had 0 problems with it so far, however, the sights are a little off. At about 25ft I am about 2" high and 6" to the left with great grouping. I know it is the gun as I have tried different ammo and even my buddy is hitting in the same area. Now the 2" high I am not concerned with as I can adjust that with my point of aim however I am not happy with having to hold off center 6" to the right. I want to adjust the sights but I am unsure if I can do it or if it needs done by an armorer?? I am not the type of person to just grab my hammer and start hitting until the sight moves........how can I do this comfortably without worrying about damaging the gun or should I have an armorer do it???? Thanks for the suggestions!

Moving the sights won't help with the elevation much, but it will help on the left-right impact. You can have a smith do it by trial and error (tap, shoot, tap, tap, shoot, tap, shoot) or you can purchase a sight pusher, bring it to the range with you, and move the sights as required.

Is the gun new or old? I don't know if you can do this, but maybe you could contact Springfield Armory and see if it would be something they could cover under warranty.

The XDs use dovetailed sights so they can be adjusted by drifting the sights to move the POI left or right. They are rather tight but they can be adjusted without any harm to the gun. The general rule of thumb is to leave the front sight in the centered position and move the rear sight to the right to move the POI to the right and the opposite to move it to the left. It is not difficult and is done as stated before: move the sight, shot adjust until the POI is where you want it.

Replace the existing front sight with a Dawson .125 x .180 ( I prefer the fiber optic). The stock sight is a .160 height. I have 3 XD9's and they all shot high til I switched the sights. You can get it through Pistolgear and have it installed by any gunsmith with a pusher. Canyon Creek did mine.

Hey guys - I just got an XD Compact 45 and it shoots about 6" to the right for me at approx 15 yards. What is this "sight pusher" you guys speak of and where can I get one?
My sights are extremely tight and attempting to budge them with a brass punch didn't work.

You can get them from Pistol Gear http://www.pistolgear.com/search.php type in sight tool. Though it's a little expensive for just one gun, try a bigger hammer. You will only need to move the rear sight left about 1/16" or less for that range.
Good Luck!!
