Confidence in the XD...

Finally got it!

I've had it for awhile now and have taken a few range trips with it and can report no malfunctions of any kind. I think I've run a total of about 600+ rounds through it and it seems to digest whatever is run into it.

Awhile back, I picked up some Triton Quik Shok ammo from Cheaper than Dirt. It's similar to a frangible ammo, where the core breaks into 3 pieces and the case it's set into also expands. It was some nasty stuff in my backyard penetration/expansion testing. Here's some of the pieces that I found:

Anyway, the stuff is made with that crummy A Merc brass and a couple of chamberings with it and the brass gets dinged up and looks awful. So, I brought a bunch of old rounds with me today to the range and the XD still fed everything without a hitch.

If it can feed the worst of the worst in brass, it'll feed anything.

With the ease of field stripping, perfect ergonomics and easy to see sights, it'll become my new off-duty gun. It's also more accurate than my issued Glock 22 but we all knew that...

I have a box of that stuff and my brass is crummier than yours apparently. The extractor on my XD9-SC just rips right thru the rim.

Sounds great! Those XD's are ammo hogs

And those Quik Shoks look like they would definitely do some damage
