I need a quick decision on Heinie sightsThis is a discussion on I need a quick decision on Heinie sights within the General SA-XD/XD(M) Talk forums, part of the XD Talk category; Buddy has straight 8s on his Glock ... I don't really care for them but he swears they are the greatest thing since sliced bread ...

Well I already called Scott. I was more concerned with how their night performance was. I have "read" plenty. I have limited experience with 3 dot so it isn't like I have anything to get used to them. I'm not used to anything. I know it is personal preference. Some people rave, some meh. So I will give them a shot. I know they are quality. I know just about any notch and post would work for me durring the day, I was just wondering how they were for night. Thanks a lot you guys. I appriciate you taking the time for a rookie.

If you had decided on the Heinies before you sent them to Springer, I could have sold you my used, but in excellent condition, ones. I switched to TFOs as I needed the FO to see the sights during the day due to my aging eyesight.
I would have sold them for $75.
Good luck with yours.

XD sights
I put the Heinie straight 8's on my 45 Tactical, wanting to try something different than the TFO's on my XD9 service. I did not like them much as I thought the dots were too small. I went back to the TFO's and am very happy!
YMMV.

Darn it!
I actually have no doubt that the TFOs are good. Many people like them. I wanted something I didn't have to worry about. I wish I could replace the front optic if I needed to. In actuality, what I choose isn't super critical. I only wanted night sights for camping. My house is pretty light at night and if I actually had to shoot someone, I doubt sights would be a critical factor. It would probably be more like point and shoot. What I would really be sold on is if Heinie came out with TFO 8's.
