My XD9 broke

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. Attached is a pic of what happened to me at the range last week. The front portion of the "bridge" on the slide between the port holes broke in the front, by the front sight. I had to break the rest of it off to finish my time at the range. I contacted SA and the gave me an RA# without hesitation. Once I send my gun in they'll be sending me a brand new gun so I'm very happy with that. Has this happened to anyone else with the V10 models? The guys at the gun shop were shocked. I'm wondering if it was a bad casting.

Mike

it actually happens pretty regularly. If you don't have your heart set on the ported model ask if springfield will replace it with an unported one. springfield will replace it.

the ported models look sweet, but stick with the non ported.

I havent figured it out yet myself. I've heard of numerous XD9 V 10's breaking there but never in a .40. A guy on here with a ported .40 has put around 2k rounds through his and hasnt broke.. Just seems like its all in the 9's.
Like he said, unless you just really want one, I'd ask for a service model...

Sorry about that breaking, I was about to purchase one and was reading up on them about a week before I went to buy and read they were breaking.

Just search for the words broken and V-10, you'll see all the reports of it. I'd love to have one again, but not until I know it's fixed.

go with the 9mm service, you will be very happy with it, and if you had the ported for less muzzle flip than get a don's guide rod, and #22 spring, that will help out some.

Yeah it does suck, but I'm happy about getting a new gun. I requested the service model. The V10 is so sweet looking though. I will miss it. Especially when you get pics like this.....

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.
