Ammo for XD .45 with 4" barrel?

This is a discussion on Ammo for XD .45 with 4" barrel? within the General SA-XD/XD(M) Talk forums, part of the XD Talk category; I have 230 gr Hydrashok (a ton of it) and it's great from a full-size 1911 (5" barrel). How much loss of velocity/energy is there ...

Ammo for XD .45 with 4" barrel?

IIRC, the diff is only 40-50 fps less with the 4".

Okay...thanks! I'm in the "slow and heavy bullets are better" camp.

+1
Regardless of barrel length, I stick with 230gr in .45acp.
The only exception for me would be Corbon's DPX. If you're worried about velocity, DPX seems to offer great terminal ballistics.
Best

Well, if you're there, might i recommend the 230 gold dot? They're really nice and accurate. Don't have an XD .45, but my springer loaded double stack loves em.

The 230gr Gold Dot is my issue round.
Accurate, low flash, 100% reliable, and I'm happy with the gel testing I've seen with it.
