(100 rounds every 10 minutes) if so, I'll accept my "it's just me" label and limp away with what dignity I have left. If it was more spaced out, then I'll slow it down some and see how that affects things. I just figured a poly trigger would cure it either way.
Thanks, all.

To answer the question - no. We don't shoot 100 rounds in 10 minutes. We shoot 450 - 500 rounds a day over a course to certify as PO's for the court system. Does the slide get hot? Sure - sometimes in rapid fire drills and course work, but we're not shooting mag after mag after mag. The fastest we shoot on the course is 10 shots with a mag change in 10 seconds from 7 yards.
Unless you have 20 round mags for this thing, and you have 5 of them fully loaded, how are you shooting/reloading/shooting to get 100 in 10 minutes?
I can't think of any reason to shoot that many that fast, unless you're torture testing a gun to see if you can make it fail. Not sure what you're doing with the weapon.

I have a lot of mags and I shoot through them quickly, that's all. After so many guns and so many years I don't spend my range time casually. I put rounds through the guns on target in double taps as quickly as I can acquire. I can assure you all that if you shoot this many rounds through your XDs in this amount of time, your triggers will let you know. It's happened on two occassions now and it wasn't related to the temp outside or any finger sensitivity. I'm surprised so few seem to see it as even possible. It makes total sense that the heat from the upper would transfer down through the trigger. The same thing happens with the P7M8 even though the whole gun is metal. I just hadn't noticed it until I put this many rounds through the XD in such a short spell. It's not a huge deal. I was just curious if other triggers had become available yet.
Sloopy, your test involved just under 200 rounds. I didn't notice anything at that point either. It got warm at about 180 and toasty at 300.
Thanks for the replies.

I'll say it's absolutely possible. Last time at the range my wife and I put about 300 rounds down the throat of my XD within 25-30 minutes. The trigger got pretty dang hot along with the slide. It got to the point where I put the XD down for about 10 minutes because the trigger was hot enough that it was unpleasant to shoot.

Something tells me that noone will ever make a polymer trigger for this gun. I'm guessing that most view a polymer trigger a solution to a non existent problem.
I agree that the trigger can get hot. I shot four or five 16 round mags as fast as I could and the trigger was toasty.
Take a break and let that thang cool a minute or two.
Try one of those quality cloth type bandaid's or something similar.
Bring a can of compressed air and cool it down.
That's about the best I can come up with quick.
Good luck with the hot trigger.

Maybe the answer to the problem is to wear a shooting glove on your strong hand. I have a Taurus PT111 Pro with a misirable trigger action - pinches my finger between the bottom of the trigger and the guard. I only shoot that gun when I'm wearing a tight fitting shooting glove on my strong hand.

...I provided and answer alreay, but just for FYI...I did a toture test on the XD, with over 1200 rounds fired in the span of 2 hours, 6 mag;s and the help or 3 reloaders...single shooter (Me) and never experienced the trigger getting hot. This of course was the XD 45 ACP service.
I have not tried it with the XD 9 Tact. But, Please note that the trigger assembly on the XD is somewhat differnt than most guns. As you remove the locking block you'll see that the actuall trigger sit's below with a "gap on both sides and on top away from the block itself...Meaning heat would half to be transferred through air or the locking block small (very thing) spring....Still, even the trigger bar does not make contact either.
this doesn't mean it's not happinging to XD'ers but I just have not experienced it.

It's happened to me more than once. Not only the trigger but the takedown lever gets nice and toasty too. To the point where it's uncomfortable to touch for long. I was putting alot of rounds through it in a hurry though.
'Bout 300 rounds in less than an hour was what did it for me.
