Do you "grease" your XD?
When i bought mine, the shop owner ran through how to disassemble and clean, but then he did something I'd never done, He greased the tracks around the slide and frame
Should I be greasing my guns? Never heard of it before

Sure. I like to have grease on the rails unless it's cold out or the gun will see some really dusty, dirty ranch duty. Grease is good for range sessions - it seems to last longer to me than oil. It's also good for guns that will sit a while without moving because it won't have any gravitational migration like lighter lubricants. I use Rig +P grease, and I've considered giving Enos' Slide Glide a try.

I heat treated my XD45 new out of the box with Militec1. Broke it in with same by swabbing out the barrel between each of the first 20 shots with a bore-snake treated with Militec1 then between each mag for the next 3 or 4 mags. Militec1 bonds to the metal surfaces on a molecular level with heat and gives a very long lasting, durable dry lubed surface. Won't attract dirt or sand either and makes clean up a snap.

Grease (VERY LIGHTLY!!!) the rails and the grooves in the slid. I also apply a very small amount to the pressure points of barrel stop and locking block and the point where the spring contacts the barrel.
Seems to work out well for me....

KMart was closing out their gun cleaning supplies so I picked up 2 pump cans of Castrol synthetic gun lub for a $1 each. Been using this stuff for the past 3 years - still on the first can! Works well in place of reguler oil, but I like the mil surplus grease I picked up at a surplus shop - 3 lb can of super light dark brown grease that's made just for military weapons. Stuff is incrediable! Use it on all my mil rifles and on my hand guns and still have most of it left in the can.

I use Enos Slide Glide on all my autos and I use a light coat of it on the innards of my wheelguns.

You meen the car product? I never thought of that. Imagine it would work okay, but just had never thought of it.
I personally use tetra glide, imilar to white lithimu grease on mine. Slide rails, barrel and top of slide, barrel bushing on my '11. Always worked fine for me.
