Is the Bi-Tone or Black

I was at a lgs the other day and the salesman told me that the Bi-Tone holds its value the best to all the xdm's. Then he said the od colors and then black is the last. Do you think its worth the extra money to buy a bi-tone or od ??? And is it true they really hold their value better then each other. thanks for any input

I think he's correct. The stainless slide can look like new 10 years from now, the black will show more wear. At the same time you probably won't sell it anyway so get what you like. I have bi tones.

My first purchase was the full-sized 3.8" XDm 9mm in all black. When I decided to go with the compact 3.8" XDm 9mm, I purchased the bi-tone. I just think the bi-tone is a really handsome pistol. My next purchase will (hopefully) be the XDs in 9mm whenever they release it and I hope to find it in the bi-tone finish as well.

Agree what the others say about bi-tone, it should hold it's finish nicer, so that might help with resale value. I don't purchase handguns on what my LGS or anyone else says about resale. I don't plan on reselling and like to make the decision more on my thoughts, if I like it etc. If you like the bi-tone go for it, good luck.

I bought the XD9 service back in 08, all black - always sort of wished I had paid extra for bitone. So when I found XDs in bitone for $50-60 more then the best price had found locally for black, I decided it is worth the extra. Mostly for the looks, but I also wonder if it should hold up to being in a holster better, especially if sweat makes it around the edges of holster to get on slide. I'm happy with it so far.

Buy what you like unless you plan on noy keeping it. Then I'd ask why you're buying it anyway. I myself prefer all black.

I've got the Bi-Tone myself just because I think it looks better, IMHO.

I've also read on this site about the black versions rubbing on the copper rivets on jean and leaving a mark (if using the stock holster). They came off with some elbow grease, but don't think anyone with the SS slide complained of this issue.
