New XD(M) 5.25 9mm member
Hey,
I've been lurkin' on this site for a few months now, but finally joined after I purchased an XD(M) 5.25 9mm last Sunday. I've been looking for a very accurate, and reliable sidearm, without having to pay an arm and a leg. Based on the research I've done on this website, and through magazines and other online articles, I think this is exactly what I've been looking for.
I feel like I got it at a great price at a local gunshow for $659.99. I might have been able to find it cheaper if I hunted around more, or if I looked around online long enough, but I've dealt with this particular dealer for quite a while and I was happy to be a return customer.
I unfortunately haven't had the pleasure of shooting it yet, but I'm hoping that I'll get some free time this weekend. I also am a former Glock owner, but I sold my Glock 19 9mm a couple of months ago (again at the gunshow).
If shooting goes well this weekend, i'm hoping to pick up a decent carry gun, so i'll be looking into the XD(s) 45, or the 40 (when it comes out).
Thanks to everyone for all of the great advice, and I hope to learn a lot more moving forward. I'd post pics, but I need 10 posts
-Jay

Welcome!
I love my XDM9 5.25. Have about 2000 rounds through it now and it just keeps getting better and better.
Get a PRP trigger kit for it, soooo much better than stock.
I got my carry permit but have never felt the need to carry. Picked up a SW 686 snubbie today. I shoot in a weekly PPC league (like a bowling league, only we use bullets instead LOL) and they have a snubbie sub class and I got to shoot a 686...wow, very nice. Much more practical for dry fire practice too as you can just pull that trigger endlessly.
NIce to have a reason to shoot every wednesday and a way to measure my improvement. Also meet some great guys - and every once in a while see something unique, like last night the guy having fun with his fully auto suppressed uzi. Yep. $6k a few licensing hoops and you too can burn through ammo so fast it will make your banker spin over in his vault!

Thanks, I've been seeing a lot of good reviews on the PRP trigger, so I'll definitely have to do some research on that.
Other than that, I'd like to find a decent mountable light, and maybe an alternate holster than the factory one.

Got a chance to hit up the range last Saturday. Needless to say, this is a fantastic firearm. Very comfortable to shoot, very accurate, lots of fun. I really like the orange sight up front, it makes it very quick and easy to acquire the target.
I also got some white nail polish to accent some of the engravings. Overall, I'm very satisfied, and i'll definitely be looking into getting another XD in the future.
