will not eject spent rounds.

ok so i have a xd40 and have grown to love it. the only problem I am having is 1 out of about every 8 rounds will not eject all the way. some will "stove pipe." some will not even come out of the barrel and that leads to the next round wanting to feed into the back of the spent round. i use this as my conceal and carry gun and would hate to need it but only get 1 or 2 rounds out of it. I would be greatful for any help.
AJ.

Have you tried different types of ammo?
Could you possibly limp wristing it?
Do you clean/brush around the extractor good?

Are You Sure It's The Ejector?

Are you sure it's a ejection problem? sounds like an extraction problem when you say the spent rounds barely come out of the chamber.

I had a problem with my ejection (zero problems with extraction) most likely due to bad metallurgy in my ejector that lead to excessive wear, changing the angle of the ejector face. Rounds would barely dribble out, but i still had no malfunctions just greatly reduced ejection speed and distance.

I fixed my ejection with a PRP ejector, but your problem sounds like a extractor related one.

Clean around the extractor and check for damage.

Yes I tried different ammo. My wrist is fine, I have shot many guns without problems. I cleaned around the extractor and I was thinking it was the problem. Should I be able to slide it left and right with easy?

The extractor should be stiff, but movable.

The extractor in my XDM is tight, it will not move from side to side except with great effort. If yours moves freely I would send it to Springfield for a warranty replacement.

What are you talking about? The recoil spring does not push the slide back! How would that affect the extraction?

Don't know why I deleted my comment, prolly because I thought I was an idiot for a second. Maybe my wording was a little dumb but if a recoil spring is old and worn out it can cause ejection issues, same reason when a mag spring is worn out it can cause feeding issues and the slide to not stay locked back after shooting the last round. Worn springs make less inertia, simple science
