Newbie Here...
I purchased 2 XD 9MM Subcompact. Love the gun, but I have an important question.
The rear rail is PLASTIC...The only metal rail is in the middle...Is it steel and how durable is this firearm? Rear plastic rail...
Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum from Florida. Of the thousands of XD/XDm owners participating on the forum, I have yet to read about someone wearing one out. In fact, most will brag about how many tens of thousands of rounds they have sent down range.

That rear PLASTIC rail might end up lasting a million rounds if the rest of the gun could last that long. I have thousands of rounds through my 9mm Service with no visible wear to that plastic rail. It is thick and beefy like the front steel rail, MUCH heavier than the rails in an HK USP or M&P-45 or really most other pistols.
XDs are built like tanks, don't fret about it. Besides if it DID ever fail the XD has a lifetime warranty

Hello & welcome!
Don't think you'll have a problem at all! I own five XDm's & never had a single issue.

The gun parts are NOT "plastic". They're are a special polymer designed for the purpose. Don't worry about it.
