XDs Vs. Shield .40S&W Range Report Review
I went to the range today and shot my XDS and Shield .40..The Target below is 14 Yards 50 Rds in each Side using PMC ammo..The Left target is the Shield and the right is the XDs.
Both guns shot well but the XDs is in another class of gun. Once I got locked in on it I could put lots of rounds in the same area. The Shield shot better with the extended mag but I had some trouble with sighting it in..i,e, finding its sweet spot. Both guns did really well without a single jam. However upon examination of the Shell casing the XDs sping is much stiffer causing dents in the casings..I believe this will loosen up with some use.
The sight picture on the XDs is far superior than the Shield. The recoil was actually better on the XDs.
I like the safety functions on the XDs better. i.e. trigger safety, round indicator, etc.
The box the Shield comes in a simple box and stinks, the XDS has a case, hip holster, two mags.
The Xds is in a class all its own. If you buy an LCP now you are Cheap, the Shield is like buying a Chevy Malibu, The XDS is like a High end Lexus..
Bottom Line is this gun was worth the wait...

Thanks for the report. Nice shooting.
Forum has a range report section though, just FYI.

Thanks for the review.
How would you compare the triggers between the two?

I would say the XDs Triiger has an easier pull. But they are really close to being the same..

I appreciate your report on the two... Although I disagree, it's nice to read various thoughts on them since they are two hot guns right now.
Nice shooting!

^^^ THIS. But am afraid that I may have secured a Walther PPS before that ever happens.

Nice review. I have both. Well, actually, the Shield (9mm) is my Sister's. But I live with her, so I get to use it.
I do prefer the XD-S, but the Shield is nothing at which to stick your nose up. The Smith does have a better trigger, imo.

Yup. If I don't convert my 40sc to 9mm or just get a 9sc all together. If the convert can go at least 500 rounds without a problem ill keep it that way.

Can you post pictures of the XDS and the shield side by side, one on top of the other etc? I have shot the Shield in 40 S&W, but I really like my XDM. I just don't think I will get to see them side by side for quite a while, but I want one now!
Thanks
Craig
