questions about the PRP trigger kit?
I want a combat/carry trigger. Which one is best ? The drop in or easy fit? I plan on getting a local gunsmith to install (although i don't know how good he is). Also , is the trigger that comes with the kit more comfortable than the stock trigger? thx

I did the ultimate with a gunsmith and the drop in myself and the drop in is almost as good as the ultimate. If you have the money do the ultimate with the gun smith (also, he can adjust the pull force with how much he files - with the drop in you get what it gives), otherwise try doing it yourself. It's not that hard with the video and the results are fantastic. And the trigger that comes with the kits is the same and feels great. Good luck.

I have the ultimate match target trigger in all 3 of my Xd's.
XD45 started out at 7lbs and is now 4lbs 2oz.
XDm9 4.5 started out at 6lbs 10oz and is now 4lbs 2.4oz
XDm45 5.25 already had the prp trigger installed when I got it and it is 4lbs 4oz
I am going to take a look at the XDm45 5.25 to make sure it was fitted properly. I think I can knock a little weight off it with some polishing.

I just went with the drop in and it includes two different weight springs for both the striker spring and trigger spring in addition to lighter weight springs for two other areas in the XDM. I don't have have a pull test here to measure mine with but the results were good. Plus between all the springs I have now including the stock ones I've got 18 different weight options for my trigger, yes it's really that many with the drop in kit since you can mix and match springs to get precisely the feel you want from the trigger.

what about the trigger itself? Is the front smooth? Thats my biggest complaint. The very uncomfortable trigger.

The front of the trigger is smooth for the drop-in trigger and is polymer.

I only have one on my XDM 5.25 9mm. It is the Ultimate and I did it myself. very nice pull. crisp with a short reset. with a hand held el-cheap-o I get just under 4lbs pull. I don't think i would want this trigger in a carry gun if you carry "one in the pipe". however for my comp gun YES it rocks!!

The Ultimate is pretty easy to put in. The hardest part is being patient and doing lots of fitting with little sanding. Only took a couple of swipes of 1200 grit (get it at the auto parts store in the paint section) to get the safety free of the sear, but I had to pull the whole assembly multiple times to get the palm safety spur sanded down.
If you do get the Ultimate and decide to do it yourself, take a very close look at the trigger assembly when you take it out of the frame. The PRP video (2 of 2) of the XDM trigger kind of skips over putting the trigger back together. Pay attention to how it's laid out, esp. the slide release spring.
And try my popsicle stick with strip of sandpaper glued to one side trick to sand down the overtravel stop without taking the trigger out of the gun. And you will need to take what seems like a lot of material off to get the striker to fire.
Well worth it. Hardly any pre-travel, glassy break. I just compared it to my old SIG 229 and it's got less pre-travel and almost as good of a SA break.

I put the ultimate match trigger in my 9mm 4.5 XDm, and it feels amazing. I just had a gunsmith install some sights and he loved my trigger. He wanted to know what it was and if I did it myself.
Would definitely recommend.
