Mostly cosmetic differences. I have a XD45 4" and XDm9 4.5" currently. The XDm has a slightly better factory trigger over the XD and I like the cosmetic changes to the XDm frame as well. Both shoot the same.

Some people prefer the feel of XD over the XDm.

I put a PRP ultimate match trigger kit in the XD and I will be ordering one for the XDm tomorrow.

XDM has: match barrel, different slide serrations, changable grip backstraps, no need to pull the trigger to disassemble, a little nicer trigger, greater magazine capacity, different grip texture, higher price tag.

All in all, I should have just got another XD, and spent the difference on sights or ammo. Only the most serious shooters will notice the difference with a match barrel.

Despite my first day happiness when getting my xdm -- I will contradict something I said a long time ago . The "match" barrel IS a marketing type thing.

Answer : XDm's look cooler .

Ahhh..."looks cooler..." - always worth another $100.

Clearly I showed extreme XD knowledge and prescience by getting the XDm. I knew I was good, just didnt kmow how good I was! ::

I love my XDm's but like said above not a whole lot of differences from the XD's. I do like the changable backstraps & overall looks of the XDm's better!

Agree, the XDM's aesthetics are more appealing to me than the XD, a big reason why I got it. Not to take away from the XD platform, its tried and tested and gets the job done.

Oops I forgot about the match grade barrel. I don't know why they call it match grade when I can out shoot my XDm9 with my XD45. It might be the PRP trigger since my groups did tighten up some with the new trigger. We will see next week when I install the PRP trigger in the XDm9.

The most important difference is cleaning the gun. You do not have to pull the trigger on the xdm before you field strip it. This is the primary safety difference between the two.
