difficult loaded magazine release!

i guess the title says it all. i have a xd9sc with the 13rnd and 16rnd mags. when they are loaded, i have to push the bottom of the mag up into the magwell in order to depress the mag release button. the mag comes out smoothly, and if i reduce 1 round out of either mag, i can release it with my thumb, but not my index finger. if the mags are empty, i can release with my index finger. is this normal for the pistol? all of my other pistols with drop a loaded mag without much effort on the release button. thanks!

This is one of the quirks of the XD line. Not a big deal IMO since you generally wont be dropping a full mag in a self defense situation.

its a XD thing the last round has almost no room. I have some Sig P220 factory 8rd mags that have the same problem, they are new and getting better.

insert and remove the full mags 200 times each. They will smooth out.

as others have said, it is an XD thing, especially when new. It will improve. Some folks gripe about it, but when you think about it, when would you ever need to release a full mag in a hurry? Not in match under timer, not in a bad situation. Only rush to drop is for empty or partially empty for tactical reload. So for me this was a non issue.

Keep running it, it will loosen up. My XD9SC drops the 13 round mag, with a Pearce +1 base, cleanly every time. Of course, it has about a thousand rounds through it, too.
