Should I remove the striker safety?

Ok I'll be installing the PRP trigger kit in my XD-45 this weekend. This will be purely a target/competition gun, never to be used for carry ( I have another XD-45 for that if I choose ) the grip safety will be left intact but I am wondering about removing the drop safety/striker safety and it's associated spring. It would be one less thing in the trigger chain to impinge on the feel and crispness of the trigger.
IF I were to drop the pistol, the grip safety and the almost silly trigger mounted safety would still be there to do thier jobs.
What do you guys/gals think about this?

Arrow It will be a liability issue.

I wouldn't do it, that would be a liability issue. If you drop said gun, it happens to fire, and hit a bystander, you open yourself to a serious lawsuit. OR the consequences could be criminal charges, like negligent homicide! Especially if said gun is to be used at crowded events and whatnot. I say take it out, and see if you even notice a difference while farting around with it before you decide to leave it out.

^ I'm going to agree with this..

BTW, that PRP should improve that sloppy trigger by 110%...

Let us know how you feel about it....1LL

I would say to do the trigger kit and see how it feels. I personally would leave the striker safty there. IMO if something were to happen and they found that safties were removed it could have very bad concenquences.

The difference with it in or out is negligible and if the trigger is installed properly and fitted right you should not notice.

Yeah and they do make lighter springs, I can take it out, de-burr it and reinstall with a lighter spring.

If you will be shooting Production Division with this gun, you can't touch any of the safeties...they all need to be functional.

In Limited, you see most guys pinning down the grip safeties on 1911s, which is legal for that Division.

I follow the other guys here, try it before you start pulling parts out of the gun. The one thing I left out of mine, on advice of PRP, is the auto-disassembler spring that is over the Sear spring.
