Help/advice on a .40 SA-XD
Hello everyone,
I currently own a XD in 9 and 40 as well as a few 1911's. My question is this. I got my 40 about 3 mo. ago just to give it a whirl and see if I liked it. I have always been partial to .45 but my XD9 has been one of my go to guns also. I have found another 1911 that I must have (i know, i know) and now Im wondering if I should keep the .40? I have given it a fair 3 months and I am not all that impressed. I want to trade it to help purchase this new 45 but I keep second guessing myself.
The 40 is mine-plain and simple. Its paid for and is one more gun in my collection. I have regretted trading off guns before but they were 1911's. Should I hold on to it as you never know with a SHTF scenario. I could be stuck with a 9 and 45 and only 40 ammo...lol. Im going out on a limb with that but Im sure everyone knows what I mean and where Im coming from.
Simply put, should I just keep the 40 and put it up until I "need" it or let it go? Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

You said it yourself, that you've traded off guns before and lived to regret it.
I see posters all the time reflect the same sentiment, yet can't recall a single one that was glad they got rid of one.
Unless it is an extreme financial hardship, I'd keep it and enjoy saving up for the day you can purchase your next one.

Thanks for the replies! I think that I will just keep the .40 and put it up. I don't use it but I cant say that there won't come a day I won't need it. Besides all that, it is an XD!

I say unless you need the cash, keep it. You never know if you might warm up to it later.

Get rid of it. If you really miss it, it's not like you can't get another one.

I'm another vote for the sell / trade it. Since it is your only .40, it is not like you are sharing ammo between that and other guns. If your 9mm is your "go-to" and you have an attraction to 1911's, then I think you have the practical use covered... the .40 seems like it fills a hole that isn't there, IMO. If you just want it fine, but you've said you weren't too impressed, so why take up the space / have the $$ tied up when you can use that cash for your next "trophy"

Having a xd40 myself and loving it. I guess that my question is what doesn't impress you about it? It is more than reasonably accurate (certainly better than I am), has a pretty nice trigger (better than a glock, but not as nice as a custom), and a guide rod with a 22lb spring tames it quite nicely. These are just my opinons, but I have a friend that hates plastic guns and he likes this one. Maybe figuring out what is it that doesn't impress you may help you make the decision. Is it something that you can and will want to fix? If not then dump it. I hope this helps.
