I had guns before I met my wife. she know what she was getting into when she married me. Now when I buy a gun, she takes it for her own and I am left to buy a new one for myself!

I had plenty of guns before I met my wife, Had 4 when we moved in together now I'm up to 12 and I have traded a lot during that time. I always discuss buying with my wife, just because it is a big purchase and I fell its respectful to her. We have our own spending money but you never know when something is going to come up that you might have to help the other one out.

I wouldn't call it epic fail. Just didn't see any other way to ease into it without jumping head first to begin with.
I do like the idea of taking friends with to the range. Will have to talk to my buddy and his wife to setup a outing.

DMK where do you shoot at? You anywhere near Rinks? That is usually where I go to shoot when I have time. When I get the chance it is on a Tuesday. Always looking for someone to go with if your close.

mine thinks i have 1 black 1911, 1 s/s 1911, a plastic pisto,l 2 hunting rifles 1 black 1 wood and dont know the difference between an ar and an ak. if she knew whats really around shed prolly go ballistic. i told her if something happens sell em for what theyre worth not what i told you to paid for em, she says "huh"? i turned around and said i got a hell of a deal on some of them. same with ammo to her a bullets a bullet so when she sees me coming in with some doesnt think much of it but theres enough ammo piled up to keep zombies at bay for oh 3-4 maybe 10 years, lol. long as i buy her something shiny every once in a great while, i get no dookie. tell you the truth, i dont know if she really doesnt know or just dont say anything cause it keeps me outta her hair. either way she knows if it comes down to my toys or her, she gets to beat feet, hey i was like this when i met her and she accepted it then, so...

Guess I got lucky... Wife and I talked about getting a gun last year. Got a Groupon to a local range in December that included rental + range time and we went with friends of ours and had a good time.
We shopped guns and I settled on the XD as that's what I shot at the range and it seemed to be working for me and why mess with a good thing?
I ended up putting it off and off as the one LGS would have to order the XD (they had XDMs). We all went with a friend to another gun store and I stumbled on a used BiTone XD 9mm and got a great deal on it with 4 magazines and everything from the XD gear. She told me "you better buy that". So I listened to her!
Now she just has to figure out what she wants but she's getting accustomed to my XD and we are having fun shooting it.
I also think I have permission for more as she said "I know that won't be your only gun"....

i haven't discussed any personal purchases with my wife. we maintain a joint account that we do discuss before buying unscheduled household needs, but we also maintain separate personal accounts. we both agree that neither can tell the other on what to spend the money on.
also, i have a six year old (why is it always six year instead of years? like 10 foot instead of feet??) daughter. she's seen all my guns, shot three and knows not to touch any of my guns without me letting her and understands that they're always loaded. i constantly drill her on it. she's pretty good about listening, she doesn't even touch my tablets or computers without asking me. we'll see if she still listens when she's a teen.
