+p+ is not a standard like +p is. The gun will handle it just find. Question why the need for it. +p+ doesn't get you anything +p can and for that matter standard pressure.

They are NOT rated for it because +P+ is telling you ONLY that it is beyond the +P SAAMI specification. There is no upper limit to it (as I understand things), so there could be a 5 grains of antimatter in there waiting to go off like a nuke!

Ok, that just might be slightly outside the bounds of reality -- just a little... But I dislike guns blowing up in my hand so I stay away from stuff that brags about being higher than the maximum allowable pressure. I really see no need for the massive blinding flash, the horrendous report, increased recoil and abuse of the gun just for a slightly higher velocity.

I use Winchester Ranger T-Series 9mm +p+ as my SD/HD round. Every time I go to the range I put at least a mag's worth down range. No issues. I wouldn't shoot 100's of them, but for a defense round they're fine. They sure do make a nice bang!

Loud bang doesn't equal a good defense round. There is no need for +p+ all it does is cause more recoil, and muzzle blast thus slowing your follow up shots.

Since the XD is a European gun, I imagine it can handle +p+ just fine. HOWEVER, as others have pointed out, +p+ doesn't have a SAAMI rating and you don't really know what you're getting in that case, unless the pressures and velocities are listed on the ammo website. IMO, +P+ doesn't get you much over standard +p, and the standard +p is easier on your gun. I suggest if you want the +P+ velocity in a 9mm, change out to .357 SIG.

I was just noting that it made a louder pop. +p+ is fine as long as you're not running it all the time. I've talked to Springfield about this. Lady on the phone said that if it's just done to recycle your self defense mags to not worry about it. I doubt Winchester would make it if it was so hot it would explode your gun in one shot.

Now a defective gun. I dunno.

As said before, why fix it when it isn't broke?
