Just ordered my XDm 9mm Compact... And the wait begins

Just ordered it from buds gun shop. This will be my first gun, and I can't wait to get it and go to the range. I have been to the range a few times, but I still consider myself a newbie . Any suggestions for a new gun owner? Any service I should perform on a brand new gun?
thanks guys

Just a basic clean and oil. Read the manual and make sure you know how it works.

Congrats on the new gun! That is the gun I chose as my first gun also. I love it. It had to go back to the manufacturer though because it was misfeeding about every 3rd round. But it is back now and after about 200 rounds through it, not one misfeed. Good Luck! My advice for your new gun: Shoot it lots.

Like Navy said.. just clean it, oil it and shoot the hell out of it. Which model did you get? 3.8, 4.5, 5.25 etc..

This is the same gun I just bought a few days ago. Its the second member of the "XD series" family to join my collection.. got a feeling it wont be the last lol. You're gona love this gun, the included adjustable backstraps are a option worth checking out for a better "fit" in your hand. Love my XD service model, but theres just something about this 3.8 XDM Im fallin' in love with lol.
