That wear isn't normal. You should send it in to Springfield....

Thanks shatnerglass, not sure where the extra letters came from. I didn't think it was right, it shows a bit better with the black marker on it. I did email SA yesterday about it but have not heard back from them yet. Thanks again.

Is this a used gun? The barrel picture looks very dirty with some discoloration of the blued barrel also. If used, I bet the flat spot is from a lot of bullets down range. If it's a new gun, you need to clean it up and oil it. Have you ever cleaned it since you have owned it?

The gun was new and the barrel is clean, had a bit of black marker on it from marking the barrel. The gun is cleaned after every firing. I'll bet the flat spot is from 500 rounds. Thanks for your concern on the cleaning.

I was wondering the same thing as far as cleaning, make sure you clean between the sights aswell
Here is a quick shot of my barrel, its gone through about 300 rounds, I'm sure another 200 wouldn't start scraping down the barrel... if its removing layers from the barrel, make the call, they'll fix it..

Yep. Get ahold of them and report back here so we know what SA did for you. I have almost 5k rounds amd my barrel looks nothing like that flat spot.
Last night while cleaning mine I put oil around the muzzle end and worked the slide several times. Only place the oil was disturbed was on bottom of the barrel....not the top. There is no wear on bottom and it is still black there also, almost like new.

Want to thank everyone for their help. Ya I see the stuff along the sight, it's some leather off the holster. The reason the bluing looks like it's gone is because it is. I just got the answer to my question. A friend was going to polish the barrel for me and I thought I would ask him about the mark. Comes to pass that he messed it up and it's no fault of the gun. I'm surprised I didn't see it before and just thought it was from wear. I also don't believe he didn't tell me about it. The gun shoots fine and straight so I think it's fine. Sorry for all the trouble, but thanks everyone.
