Cheap, low recoil .40 ammo for training w/ wife?

Hi, New member to the XD community here. Just bought XD40 service.
Whats some ammo that has low recoil for teaching my wife to shoot and cheap enough to get lots of trigger time. Thanx...

The cheapest .40 caliber ammo I've ever been able to find is Winchester white box at Wal-Mart. I believe I spend about $17/ box of 100.

The recoil is manageable. My wife has never complained.

got a friend that reloads? Get him to whip you up some soft shooting ammo?

I think I will get a barrel conv. to 9mm later but I just got the .40, so it'll have to wait a bit. When I get the 9 barrel she should be used to using a .40 and the 9mm should be snap.

My wife hates my .40, but thinks her 9mm is a kitten.

Perhaps that's the wrong caliber for her to shoot. Since she's a new shooter, she might develop some bad habits with that snappy .40.

Guess what!? This means that you get to buy another gun "for" her! How cool is that?

P.S. WWB at around 17 bucks is the best I've found in my area (Atlanta). Also, I find that the 180 grain .40 seems to not be as snappy (to me anyways).

WWB is the cheapest way to go, IMO. If your wife doesn't like the recoil, think about getting a Dons Guide Rod and a few different springs for the gun. I put a 22# spring on mine and it takes quite a bit of the snap out of the .40.

The other option would be be to buy the 9mm conversion barrel. Then you've got two guns in one.

Both the DGR and conversion barrel can be bought at Pistol Gear. http://www.pistolgear.com/index.php
