IDPA with XDm 3.8

I need to get a gun that I can conceal as well as shoot IDPA with. I know that the 4.5 and the 5.25 are better for that, but does anyone have any experience competing with a 3.8?

Haven't shot a 3.8 in a match but do often shoot a XD9sc at indoor matches. Good to go and we shoot some targets at 20 yds.

I have the xdm9c and shot my first match a couple weeks back, I did OK but I need a trigger job. I was talking with another shooter who has a xdm9c too but also has the xdm9-5.25 w.fiber optic site. He said there is a night and day difference. In hindsight I wish I would have gotten the xdm45c for carry and xdm9-5.25 for idpa. My .o2
