SA website - loaded guns in pictures??

I'm sure many of you have been to Springfield Armory's website to look at all the options for XDs. When you get the list of different sizes and calibers, you also get a link for a bigger picture. I've clicked on many links for the pictures today...

Has anyone else noticed that some of those guns are locked and loaded? I mean, the firing pin indicator is out, and the loaded chamber indicator is up. I don't know about you, but if I'm taking a general picture of my firearms, I *don't* have them loaded as I move them around to take a nice picture!! Talk about an accident waiting to happen.

Just curious if anyone else noticed. Maybe it's just me, but I would think a gun company like SA would be more careful with safety by not having the guns loaded for photography sessions.

(Here are the ones I noticed - I didn't look at all the pix):

Unless you have the grip safety depressed, and the trigger is pulled, there's no way that it can go off. I try this regularly, at the range. Grip it lower so the grip safety is still on, and pull the trigger. Nothing. Grip it normal, and pull on the trigger at the side so the trigger safety is not pressed. Nothing. The only way to get it to fire is to hold it properly and pull the trigger from the middle.

The pics are intended to show the XD and its features to potential buyers.

They could be mock-ups and not real pistols. They could also be loaded with dry-firing caps.

I completly agree, these are two of Springfields claim to fame and are huge selling points and they certainly want to show them in their advertising.I don't think you will hear about any ad's coming out of Springfield although all these pictures are done at an agency.

hmm

I never understand why some people are terrified of a loaded gun. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week I have a loaded gun either on my person, or within reachable distance from me. I've pointed it at people, without fear of it accidently going off. I've photographed, dropped, and even intentionally tried to make the gun discharge "accidently". I've yet for that to happen. The only time the gun is gonna go bang is when you pull the trigger. And on some guns, pulling the trigger just isn't enough. Til you pull that trigger or do the other required steps, its a paperweight. Photgraphing it or handling a loaded weapon properly won't make it fire. I'll juggle my loaded Glock 19.

Don't misinterpret what I am talking about for lack of respect for the weapon. I'm just pointing out the gun doesn't go boom unless there is something wrong with it, or you complete the necessary steps to fire it.

...FYI. The could use "Dummy/Training" (Blue plastic no gun powder bullets) just to show the loaded indicator and the Firing pin. .

...I know when I do dry test firing, I use these "safety" fillers (Birght Blue).

I'll tell you why I'm afraid of a loaded gun - mechanical safeties can fail and aliens could shoot a ray beam into my chamber, compressing air molecules enough to create pressure against the primer, although admittedly it's highly unlikely. But it just takes one mistake and the planets to align.

Ok, that said, I'm going to the range. See y'all...
