KImber for an XD?

I have got the itch to sell my Kimber Ultra Carry II and get an XD in .40 cal. Good decision? (I have had nagging problems with the Kimber and just plain tired of messing with them).

I am new to the board and to XD.

In the end, it's what matters most to you. Taking the cost of each item out of the equations, what are you looking for? If you want a XD40 and don't want the Kimber, seems like a simple trade.

Welcome to the board!

I already have a Glock 19, happy with it, but wanted something in a .40 or .45 for that extra "punch" that 9mm does not have.

As you read you will see that there have been very few problems w/ the xds (besides the v10) I have 3 of them and no problems at all.(except the 9mm v10) I also have a S/A 1911 loaded w/ 0 problems. I am also going to get a TRP OPERATOR for fathers day. I was going to go with a Kimber but since I have had such good luck with S/A why change.

have you rented an XD40 and tried one?
if not, and can, then do.

i've gone through 2 of them (3 if you count my sc) and loved them! outstanding guns, cannot say enough good things about them, or about springfield-armory for that matter....good company.

What's wrong with the Kimber?

I have a kimber ultra carry SS and an XD 9mm SC. I got the XD frist and then got the kimber. The kimber is GREAT, i was going to sale my XD to get another kimber but change my mind I love my XD to. But what can i say i shoot the kimber better than the XD and it is a 45 and the XD is a 9mm, But i will keep the XD and just save my money and get another KIMBER i will take my 1911 any day of the week. But this is my 2 cents.

Keeping mine

Well even if I am now carrying my XD-45 service each day. I am still keeping my Kimbers all three of them UC 3" Tac Pro 4" and Custom TLE 5" I like the UC3" around the home.

This sounds exactly what's going through my head right now. I have a new Kimber Pro Carry II and it's bad *** no doubt. I also have 2 SA Ultra Compacts worked from SA that are great. And of course, the XD .45 Service which I absolutely love!

Tomorrow, I am going to buy one more gun, it's either going to be an XD 9, XD .40 or a Glock 27. I'm going to fire all of them to see which is better for me.

I spoke to a very experienced LEO that I truly trust with my life. He carries a Glock 9mm and has never changed. He asked me, "why do you carry a .45" my answer was bigger hole, more stopping power, etc... He said, 2 well placed 9mm rounds are as good as 2 well placed .45 rounds and with today's balistic tests, the Speer Gold Dot 147gr will do the trick every time. Not too mention, 9mm is a hell of a lot cheaper to shoot and control. So I will probably end up buying the XD 9, but we'll see. I'll post pics of whatever I get tomorrow.
