Very few women who've tried my Kahr PM9 and Beretta 92FS end up preferring the Kahr. The 92FS is my only semi-auto that my wife actually enjoys shooting. The slide is easy and the recoil is next to nothing.

yeah. the psychological aspect of it as well as the physical limitations of the weapon and/or the shooter play a role. I have not had or ever fired a small handgun other than a .380 or .22.
I imagine a compact 9mm or .40 would be a handful (no pun intended).
even if they made the 3.8 a single stack and only narrowed it a small bit really reducing the bulkiness, I think would be a huge win. even if it was just the smaller grip.

If Springfield makes a gun with the XDm trigger in a single stack about the size of the Kahr CW series, I'll most likely buy one. I've been thinking about adding a CW9 to accompany my CW40, but the Springfield single stack would probably win out.

Single stack Kahr size would be nice but I am waiting for the XD(m) 3.8 Compact in .45.

Check out the Walther PPS single stack super thin and available in both .40 S&W and 9mm. I have the .40S&W version and its super concealable and is very reliable with all types of ammo. It does have more felt recoil than the full size XDm and my XDm compact all in .40 S&W, but its not terrible. I would not go shoot 200 rounds of practice with it but thats because its a pain to load that many magazines and would kill your fingers. It has the same type of trigger safety as the XD/XDm line and its accurate as well.

Looking forward to it! The XDm9c tucked in a speedo at the beach isn't very stealthy!

I may be wrong, but I remember someone explaining that the BATF restrictions make it very unlikely a sub-compact (say a Kel-Tec PF9 clone) could get enough "points" to be import-legal.
(Some say this is one of the reasons Glock is ramping up production in Georgia - eyeing a potential single-stack down the line.)
