I like both the XD and XDm pretty much equally. But for me my preferred carry choice goes to the XDm because it has a slightly slimmer slide. The XDm also has a better trigger, barrel, and takedown. But I still love the XD platform as well, so not crazy.

Question

Your not crazy. I had made up my mind to get the xdm9c and then I held the xd9sc and liked it better and its just crazy how accurate such a short barrel is. Personally I have no problem with pulling the trigger on take down just use good gun safety.

If only it weren't nearly impossible to get an XDm in CA, stupid CA DOJ roster. I do however, really like the original XD platform, and hope to get an XDm .45 eventually

XD feels better in my hands. That's why I have them in triplicate: 3", 4", & 5".
I just don't care fo the sharp edges on the grip of the Xdm.

XD feel

I am new to the forum and XDs in general. When I bought the XD, I compared it to the XDM. I was uncertain if I was going to like the XD/XDM and was buying with caution. In my mind I could not jusify spending the extra money for the more costly gun. Also did not know enough about them to understand the major differences.

I shot the XD in with 250 rounds in first range session. It was totally reliable and much more accurate than I am. (I think having the match barrel would have been gilding the lily, at least for me.) I really liked the feel of the grip and balance.

If I were to buy another, which i no doubt will, it will probably be an XDM. However, I really like the XD and do not regret the initial purchase at all.

Yeah I prefer the original XD over the m too.

Like others it just has a better feel, plenty accurate, and the XDm just seems gimmicky.

The whole "match barrel" and car tread grip, and the changeable backstrap stuff, just seem like unneeded gee-gaws and hype designed to get more money out of your wallet.

Nope. It's just the difference between practice and knowing your pistol vs. thinking having the latest, greatest thing will make you shoot better.

For the record, I wasn't shooting either of the guns mentioned.

I love my XD firearms. Never handled an XDm so I can't compare them. I have had work done to my XDs and I would not give them up for an XDm, my XDs are very accurate, in my opinion the best thing you can do for a stock XD is to have a trigger job done. That doesn't mean I would never buy an XDm, seriously considering a XDm 9MM compact for range use mostly and occasional CC, however I prefer to CC my XD45 Compact it has become part of me,to me it is just perfect. I prefer the XD over the XDm it just feels like a part of me and it eats whatever I feed it and has not ever complained even once.
