New Guy looking for some feedback

I came upon your sight when i was looking up the XD, And although i have always been a fan of heavy steel guns. I was out looking at some different firearms for my little brother for his CCW (I am a WV CCW and was looking for a summer carry, As of right now i carry a Taurus PD and love it).
But i saw a XDM in the case and figured i wouldn't like it but as soon as i held it i got me a warm fussy feeling) Now on to the question

Although i was looking at a XDm 9 i found what looks to be a good deal on a XD 40 sub 430 out the door (I want the forty and sub) Is there that much of a difference for me to hold out on the xdm ?

And dose anyone know if the XDm will be coming out in the subcompact style any time soon

Sorry for being a long winded post and thanks for any help

Welcome to the forum from KY. I cannot comment on the XDm but I do not believe from everything I have read on here that there will not be a SC XDm. I carry a XD9SC in a CrossBreed ST and love it, very accurate. You won't go wrong with the XD40sc or the XDm both are fine weapons. That is a pretty good price on XD40SC if it's new, if its used I would shop around you can get a new one for a few dollars more. I paid $459 OTD for mine.

Try using the search option. There is are hundreds of threads comparing thee two guns.

Thank you on the response's, Yep that price is new with the gear after i have it transferred to my local FFL (He only charges 5 bucks so that helps)

I couldn't get the search to work but i have been weeding though the old post comparing the two and from what I'm reading the xdm extras are not going to be a deal breaker for a xd at a good price (I need to ride up to a few local shops to find a XD 40 to hold and make sure i like it also)

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a sub xdm coming out right around the corner at a good deal (as I see where i missed out on the extra mag deal )

The XD40SC is a nice gun. I enjoy mine more than I expected to.
It might not be the best choice for somone who is recoil sensitive, however. With hot ammo, it is a bit harsh. My wife was less than thrilled with it.

Love my 40sc. The XDmC is out now in 40. Its slighly longer. I don't feel the need for one unless they drop $100 off the price. I like the weight of mine. I only carry ten rounds. I think the xdmc's are goin $550+. You can get a new xdsc for $430 +/-.

+100 on this. My girl doesn't like shooting it, but she can if she has to.

All XDm series have a match grade barrel, backstrap options, different grip and barrel serrations and a few other differences from the XD.

The XD40 SC is a fine weapon for the money, the XDm Compact is the "M" version of the SC. I believe the barrel is 3.8" on the "M" and the XD SC is a bit shorter. Either way, get what you can shoot accurately and can afford to shoot.

Keep in mind, Marksmanship is a perishable skill that requires constant training and many rounds fired downrange. If you buy a .40 and can't afford practice ammo for it, whats the point?

Personally, I can shoot the 9mm faster and more accurately. The .40 has a "snappier" recoil vs the "push" recoil of the 9mm or .45. For me, the "snap" makes it difficult to get back on target quicker than the "push". I CC an XDm 9mm 4.5". But I also have a 1911 for the home as a backup to the 9mm which is a backup to a Mossberg 930 Semi-Auto 12ga.

To each his own.

Good Luck

Accuracy is some thing i pride and push myself on, and am starting to gather quite a few different calibers (45 colt,9mm,357,38,and 22 in handgun) so that was one reason with going with the 40 (as i don't own one yet ) and for the cost i plan on adding the dies and plate for my loading press to save some money

This will also give me a reason to go to the range more (I'm there at least every other week at the local Izaak Walton)

I thought the XDmc (3.8") was equal to the Service 4" barrel with a shorter grip?

The XDSC is even shorter (3" barrel), with the same compact (shorter) grip as the other compact models.
