New XD 45 Tactical.... Now what?
I hope the word got out to everyone about the deal that centerfire systems had on their Springfield’s (Springfield).
I was able to get the XD 45 Tactical with the manual safety for $428 (shipping and everything is still less that $445) plus qualifying for the free mags from Springfield.
I already know that I love the XD45 Tactical. I had one that I carried for a while that I sold to my brother before my first deployment to Iraq. I have tried over and over to get him to sell it back but he likes it too much to sell it back. I was going to hold off and wait til I get back from this next deployment to Afghanistan to purchase my next XD45 TAC, but with this deal I couldn’t pass it up.
Now I would like to customize it just a bit, and since I got it for a great price I have some wiggle room. I do not want to dump a ton of money into it but I know that I would like to change the sights and the trigger.
My questions are: 1. What would you suggest for sights and trigger? 2. What are any other changed that make the most bang for the buck? (no pun intended)

Tru-Glo TFO tritium/fiber optic sights, powder precision ultimate match trigger, extended mag release (they make several, I have the Bar-Sto Machine one), Don's solid stainless steel guide rod (evens the weight a bit to balance gun with loaded mag, and reduces muzzle flip), extended slide lock lever (XD Guys makes a nice one and there are others out there), metal striker spring guide, grip texture, magazine extensions adding 2-3 more rounds. Just off the top of my head.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at those triggers and it looks like they may not work for my Tactical with the thumb safety.

The only trigger kit I know of for a thumb safety XD is Springer. PRP does not offer one.

Why get one with a thumb safety? It's not a 1911. IMHO
