The 3.8 with a grip chop looks pretty sick. I have the 4.5 and conceal just fine. But Canyon Creek custom does an awesome job on the chop. You can switch from compact to full size grip like the SC and XD .45 compact. I may consider this as my next purchase.

Tough choice, I like both the 3.8 and 4.5. If I were to have one it would probably be the 3.8 in bi-tone. Mine are 9mm, but I might pick up a .40 in a 3.8 later this year. I have always been partial to the 'black' guns, but my wife says "why would anyone buy a black one once they see the bi-tone?"

I liked both the 3.8 and 4.5. I will just get the 4.5 for the longer barrel and better flip control for follow ups. I doubt there will be much difference, but every little bit up front couldn't hurt. I usually shoot 4" barrels. Both of these are so close to that mark, IMO, either would be a good shooter.

The 4.5 is the better choice unless you grip chop the 3.8 for carry

i bought the 3.8 .40 bc at the store i liked the feel better. accuracy and recoil wise it feels the same as the 4.5 XDs i rented before. i dont plan on CCW with my xdm but i might give it try just cause. only reason i'm kinda regretting it is bc i might start shooting idpa and feel like a 4.5 will be better for that. but i wont know until i try so i'll cross that bridge when i come to it.

XDM 3.8 9mm

Hi, I own a xdm 3.8 9mm stainless.
I would like to trade for a xdm 4.5 stainless 9mm.
This is a great gun and in 1000 rounds I have never had an issue. I have cleaned it after every time out.
This gun is in new condition and comes with a complete xdm package. Case, lock, paddle holster, 2 19rd mags, ect...
I would be willing to take $600 firm cash for the gun or trade for 4.5
I am in phoenix arizona.

I still have not got to even shoot a 3.8 yet. I have fondled them many times at my local gun store. Even without shooting them I know that I want one in both cals. My XDM9,40,45 have all been blk/blk. For the 3.8's I was thinking about deviating from the norm and getting the 3.8's in OD/SS. One thing at a time tho. Until then my XDM family is incomplete
